I’ve been using makita for years. The batteries last forever. I have 8yrs on some. I like to think of Makita and Milwaukee like a Camry vs a Camaro. Both will do the job. One will get you there faster and one will last longer. Plus I like the fact that of I need more power I can just get a 36v and use an extra battery to get that power vs needing to get different specialty batteries. I’ve even swapped my lawn mower, string trimmer and leaf blower to Makita because they had a deal to get 4 more batteries and dual charger when I bought my mower. I’ve got more batteries than I know what to do with. Only problem I’ve had is my drill chuck needs replaced.

I agree, the Skil mag 77 is the absolute best. I have two like new American made mag 77’s, and a 2 year old Skil mag modern version made in china. And I’ve also become attached to a Skil LH sidewinder that is a couple years old. I don’t switch blades.. I keep different type carbide blades on each one of them. Fine medium and rip. I take excellent care of them and they should last me for a very long time. I’m not a professional carpenter, just a person who enjoys building things and using quality tools. I try to only buy commercial grade tools, I think it pays in the long run. I’m not really a big fan of tools that were built in china like the two later Skil saws I have. But I do tend to reach for them more often, they’re both super accurate cutting and fairly stout. But to answer the question.. I do my homework and only buy the best tools regardless of the brand. They all have some good to offer.

The paint step in this project is a higher cost than most would guess... As a welder/fabricator I haven't found the powder shops to be worth the money most the time. In a marine environment yes.. In this case, 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of a high pigment quality paint like a WURTH product is 90 percent as good and 25 percent the cost of powder shops(if not cheaper). Touch ups over time are always needed and perfect match from a 20$ aerosol is pretty handy. If you have lots of money and want the best of the best-- powder shop it

Scott, the gate is absolutely beautiful, and the build series has been fascinating. At the same time, I’m sorry that people find it hard to understand normal boundaries and fail to respect your privacy, thus necessitating the gate in the first place. That said, I’m looking forward to the series on building a sound wall to get that road noise down to something tolerable!!😉

Considering college now. It is really only applicable if your going into STEM, your aiming to become the ceo or another high ranking official. Anything else pays like dog crap. If I stayed at the position I just got into in construction, (no trade school or even apprenticeship yet) I’d make the starting amount of a full time teaching position at a school. 4 year degree only to make less than a 1st year apprentice in any trade. I just want to go for status, but Yk if I put myself in a position to make large sums of money, I’ll be able to get that status anyhow. 21 right now. Considering the electrical trade.

I believe when you're working the job for yourself name brand is the way to go. But if you're working as a contractor with employees it's always It's better to buy the consumer grade tools. As opposed to the commercial grade tools because they always get stolen. Milwaukee batteries is always the number one thing to get stolen from a job site.

The best tool is the one in you hand. They all can do the job. It comes down to what you're willing to pay and if the platform can give you most of what you need. Comfort is a big factor too. I watch all these videos on which drive can do it faster. Ok but in reality that is small potato's. Price is what you pay and value is what you get. All brands have lemon's and true with most products you buy these days. What's important is how the brand supports the product and the consumers. I personally have been working with Skil tools, and their performance has been strong, but I am sure thats the case with most brands.
